First Light: Star Light 1.26.2019

following two stars

I’m an early riser. At First Light it is my time to pray in contemplative silence, write what’s on my heart, keep watch for the stirrings of dawn, and invite the Holy Spirit to order my day.

At this early hour, I’m stunned by the brilliance of two supernaturally bright stars rising in tandem just above the treeline on the southeast horizon. My googling tells me there are three planets in the morning sky, reflecting the not-yet rising sun: Jupiter and Venus are passing near to the constellation Scorpius, along with Saturn circling near. Being an October baby, I’m mystified as I follow yonder star(s). 🌟

May Christ, the Morning Star who knows no setting, find it ever burning—he who gives his light to all creation, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
